Uncle Bo's

Uncle Bo’s, a favorite spot for pupu's, dinner, and drinks that is run by a bunch of 20-somethings.

Every weekend starts off at Uncle Bo’s for my friends and I. Whether we’re "pre-gaming" or having a night out with the girls, Uncle Bo's is our favorite spot. It's a popular restaurant lounge with a young energetic staff and lively environment. From the exuberant lights and uniquely designed bar, it’s definitely a great place to experience. It’s conveniently located at 559 Kapahulu Ave., one block away from the Waikiki Zoo. They open their doors at 5 p.m. and closes at 2 p.m. It’s great for families (kid friendly), dinner dates, and just to sit and have a few drinks at the bar. The dynamite shrimp, crab cakes, and the fire-seared prime rib are just a few of the popular dishes they serve. A dish that isn’t on the menu that we always order is the “Boca Rota” which I highly recommend. It’s a round of garlic bread slices, which is covered with melted mozzarella cheese, steak, and mushrooms. A good thing about Uncle Bo’s is that you can order your food as an individual plate or order everything as pupu-style where you could share with your friends, which would make prices more reasonable.
The popular part of the night which is probably the main reason my friends and I along with many other college students go there is for the lounge time. After 9 p.m. the restaurant turns into a lounge which attracts a lot of the young crowd. While you’re eating or hanging at the bar, they dim the lights along with playing music. Although prices are a little pricey, it’s affordable starting from $7-$25 depending on what you order and drinks usually range from $5-$15. An average tab for one person usually adds to $20, so it’s reasonable for dinner and a good time. After a hard week at school, homework, and work Uncle Bo’s is a great place to eat and have a good time with friends.

  1. Wow, this place sounds really yummy.
As a college student, I am constantly looking for someplace cheap, with a good atmosphere.
Waikiki is some where I enjoy eating, but most places are pretty pricy…most meals are 15-20 bucks, so some place when an entire tab is 20 is a pretty good deal. I really like late night lounges, and places that are open late. I never know where some place fun to go after hours is, not a place to go clubbing, but just a place with a nice ambience. (Going to Zippy’s to eat late at night is not exactly my idea of a “fun” late night date) This place reminds me of a lunge in Manoa Marketplace, Thai sweet basil, which is cheap, and is a lounge at night on Saturdays from 9 P.M-12 A.M. I will defiantly have to cheap out uncle Bo’s, ( I think I have passed it a couple times on my way to the beach)

  3. It's on Kapahulu Ave, right outside of Waikiki. Its a couple blocks away from the Waikiki Zoo and close to Rainbow Drive Inn and Zippy's. The prices aren't the bad either, this place is super good
